Kolping Family Linz

In line with the demands of the times, we are constantly developing our actions in the spirit of Adolph Kolping.
The Kolping Family Linz is a non-profit, Christian-social organisation and was founded in 1852 by President Max Pamesberger.

Kolping as an employer
Wherever we are employers, Christian social teaching (humane treatment) should be tangible. The co-operation of all those involved is a central concern for us. We define work not only in terms of gainful employment, but also every other activity performed in the service of the community is work and an indispensable contribution to value creation in our society. We see every employee as part of the overall success.

We act in partnership on the basis of our fundamental Christian values. We offer quality and also expect quality from our external partners. We see regional, national and international networking as a great opportunity for the further development of the individual and the company.

Our history
1813
The founder Adolph Kolping was born on 8 December 1813 (+1865). Trained as a shoemaker, he studied theology and, as a priest, learnt about the impoverishment of journeymen during the Industrial Revolution.
1849
In 1849, Kolping founded the first Catholic journeymen's association in Cologne. His main concern was to provide accommodation and further training for young people in Kolping houses during their vocational training.
Starting in Cologne, the Kolping idea spreads throughout Germany within four years.
1852
The Linz Journeymen's Association is founded in 1852. One year later, on 2 February 1853, Präses Pamesberger acquires the house in Gesellenhausstraße. The house is adapted as a journeymen's house. It is the first Kolping House in the world to be owned by a Kolping Society.
until 1940
Until 1940, the target groups of the association's activities - apprentices and journeymen - remained almost the same. After the Second World War, many things changed for Kolping.
Today
Kolping is present on all 5 continents in 64 countries. Kolping Linz has responded to the new, current challenges by founding business enterprises, thereby securing its charitable tasks in the long term. They form the financial foundation for the non-profit organisation.
